Turning ideas into assets

Patent Family and Status Search

A patent family/status search can be used to:

  • identify countries in which specific patents or utility models could pose a risk to business ventures.
  • reduce infringement risks and possible claims for damages.
  • obtain information on patent/utility model change of ownership.

Product characteristics

A patent family/status search will disclose the countries in which a specific patent/utility model application has been filed as well as the publication stage of the application in each country.

The search is performed in international patent databases. Documentation retrieved is based on information from approximately 70 patent offices.

In addition the patent offices of the following countries or organizations provide information on status, i.e. whether the patent family members are in force:

Austria, Belgium, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Lithuania, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland/Liechtenstein, the USA, the EPO, and the WIPO (PCT).

Information from other patent offices may be obtained at additional cost.

Based on documentation retrieved, a report will be made on the following:

The geographical coverage of the invention
The current publication stage of all family members
The legal status of the patent family members.

Delivery

Delivery is usually within 14 days.
