The role of DKPTO with regard to Danish IP policy and legislation can be seen on the following organizational diagram.
We are mandated to negotiate and make decisions in all matters related to these types of IP rights on behalf of the Danish government. This makes us Denmark's key player in IP legislation and policy making.
We work with our colleagues in The Danish Ministry of Economic and Business Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, the Prime Minister's Office and external stakeholders on providing policy advice to the Danish ministers.
National IP Policy
The possibility of protecting knowledge is an essential prerequisite for many companies’ research, development and innovation. We work to give companies the best possible starting point for earning money on their knowledge by protecting it or trading it.
Regarding enterprise policy we continuously work with political initiatives, often in connection with the Danish Government’s work on new strategies. As part of these strategies we work on identifying and analysing the latest trends in Denmark within IPR and companies’ usage of IPR. Besides daily input from companies and individuals concerning the challenges they are facing, we also keep up to date with the development in foreign companies’ usage of IPR as well as the latest international trends in IPR. This knowledge is used in the department for enterprise policy to develop initiatives which can help Danish companies meet the challenges in the IPR area.
International IP Policy
We work to secure an efficient system for protection of intellectual property rights at reasonable costs both at the national and the international level.
If you have any questions or if you would like to know more, please do not hesitate to contact Director of DKPTO's Policy and Legal Affairs Department, Mrs. Anne Rejnhold Jorgensen.
