Partnerships
In the area of consulting and professional services the Danish Patent and Trademark Office (DKPTO) has its primary experience in the areas of project management and advisory functions/provision of experts in EU Candidate Countries. DKPTO projects concern among other things Capacity Building within all fields of IP, including IP Business Development, IT database development, Work Flow analysis and Enforcement of IPR.
The DKPTO represents Denmark at the international level in all aspects concerning Intellectual Property Rights. This means that the DKPTO is mandated to negotiate and make decisions in all matters related to IPR on behalf of the Danish government. As the Danish Centre of International IPR policymaking, the DKPTO is represented and takes part in negotiations in the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), The European Union, The European Patent Organisation (EPO), The TRIPS Council and the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM).
As a result of the above mentioned tasks the DKPTO is constantly updated regarding all relevant issues relating to IP without depending on other agencies of the central administration to pass on information. Furthermore, the tasks cover both the legal issues relating to IPR as well as administrative matters concerning the above-mentioned international organisations.
The DKPTO is presently subcontracted by patent offices in UK, Turkey, Singapore and Iceland. Under these contracts the DKPTO processes a number of patent applications on behalf of the relevant authorities in these countries. With these contracts the DKPTO processes 1500 additional applications annually.
The Danish Patent and Trademark Office aims at being an internationally reliable and professional co-operation partner. By being involved in international activities, the DKPTO takes part in the integration and harmonization of legislation and processes within the area of Intellectual Property Rights. Via our international involvement we develop skills within the organization that make it possible to provide even better and more specialized assistance to the business community in Denmark.
