The Danish Patent and Trademark Office manage IP enforcement projects with the objective to bring together a large number of public and private institutions to work towards combating piracy and counterfeit crimes.

In order to address this type of crime it is necessary on the one hand to ensure cooperation and coordination between a large number of institutions, both private and public, whilst on the other hand, ensuring the availability of enforcement expertise within each institution.

Interagency cooperation activities include conferences, work-flow assessments and development of interagency legal frameworks.

Enforcement activities include training of the judiciary, police, border guards, customs, copyright authorities and private rightholders on topics such as: distinguishing a counterfeit product from an original product, risk analysis, investigation and expert witnessing.

DKPTO has built up a strong international network of consultancy expertise comprising of national and international IP enforcement experts from customs, police, judiciary and private rightholders. These experts have extensive hands-on experience with IPR enforcement issues from their daily work.

DKPTO has experience in working with enforcement activities in a number of countries such as Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Malta, Poland, Romania and Turkey.
