97 months imprisonment for directing criminal organization that smuggled counterfeit goods to 200 million USD to USA.
On 28 July, the U.S. Justice Department issued a press release, where you could read about a huge case of import of counterfeit goods into the U.S. through Port Newark in Eliza-beth, New Jersey.
New instrument in India in the fight against counterfeiting: Whistleblower-payment.
Under the heading: "Give info on counterfeit drugs, get rewarded" the Times of India brought an article on 23 july about a new weapon in the fight against counterfeit medicines.
Last huge seizure in China: 26,000 counterfeit Tiffany jewelry.
On 30 July the readers of Diamond News could read about a new big seizure in China. After notification from Tiffany & Co. the Luohu Branch of Shenzhen Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision together with the law firm of Chang TSI & Partners went in action on 16 june against a company that produced and distributed fake jewelry. Besides 26,000 jewelry were also seized package of Tiffany's trademark.
