The Nordic Patent Institute enters a new phase
By Anders Due, 04-12-2009
On January 1 2010, the Nordic Patent Institute celebrates its second birthday. The Nordic Patent Institute is a PCT authority formed in cooperation between the patent offices of Iceland, Norway and Denmark. The first two years of the new authority's lifetime have been spent on establishing smooth routines and optimize cooperation between the NPOs and the Nordic Patent Institute.
At this point the Nordic Patent Institute is ready to enter a new phase. Search and analysis services formerly sold to international customers by the NPOs will from now on be handled by the Nordic Patent Institute which however still purchases all its services from the NPOs. Along with this structural shift, the Institute will also improve its sales and marketing efforts in order to reach more customers for both search and analysis services and PCT products.
This also implies a change in the management of the Nordic Patent Institute. Lone Hartung Nielsen, who is presently Director of Sales and Marketing at the Danish Patent and Trademark Office has been appointed Director of the Nordic Patent Institute from February 1 2010. Grétar Ingi Grétarsson, former legal advisor at the Icelandic Patent Office, will be Deputy Director General.
Lone Hartung Nielsen, Jørgen Smith and Grétar Ingi Grétarsson.
