The Danish Patent and Trademark Office adjusts fees

Published 19-12-2025

The Danish Patent and Trademark Office (DKPTO) will on 1 January 2026 make a price adjustment of fees for patents, trademarks, design, utility models, supplementary protection certificates and chips (semiconductor design).

The fees will increase by 20 percent, partly due to necessary investments in customer-facing IT solutions and IT security, partly because the fees (with a few exceptions) have not been adjusted since 2002. The fees would have been approximately 45 percent higher than they are today, had they been adjusted annually for prices and wages since 2002.

The change is based on a bill adopted by the Danish Parliament on 19 December 2025. The change also includes a reduction of the transmittal fee for international patent applications (PCT applications), bringing it more in line with the fee levels of the European Patent Office (EPO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

If you are uncertain about a fee, you will be able to find and pay the correct amount in the DKPTO's self-service payment solution PVS Pay using one of the following accepted credit cards: Dankort, VISA/Dankort, EURO/Mastercard, American Express, VISA, VISA Electron, JCB and MobilePay.

You are also welcome to contact Customer Service if you have questions regarding the amendment of fees.
