Popular patent voucher scheme reopens

Published 21-03-2025

The patent voucher scheme will reopen on 1 April 2025 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Interested companies should make sure to meet the criteria to apply. With a patent voucher, you can receive financial support for costs related to a patent application. These costs can include fees for private IP-advisors, prior art searches or the application fee itself.

To apply for a voucher you must:

  • Be an SME
  • Have an active company registration number (CVR number)
  • Have completed an IP check at your regional Business Hub

We recommend that you book an IP check as soon as possible. Find links to the respective regional business hubs.

In previous years, the funding scheme of the Danish Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs has typically been depleted in a very short time. Therefore, the assessment process has been slightly adjusted.

Applications will now be assessed in prioritised order, determined by how quickly the application has been completed and submitted. It is therefore important to have all materials ready before you apply.

About the patent voucher scheme

The patent voucher scheme allows Danish companies to explore their potential for protecting their good ideas with a patent. An opportunity that will make them stand stronger when raising capital and protecting their idea from infringements.

The patent voucher scheme is part of the government's new entrepreneurship strategy aimed at making Denmark a world-class entrepreneurial country.

At the same time, the patent voucher helps to raise awareness about IP, hopefully inspiring even more SMEs to secure their rights.
